This four day safari should give you an experience of what both Rwanda and Kenya has to offer in terms of wildlife.

Day 1: Nairobi – Kigali

After 1 hour and 15 minutes flight from Nairobi to Kigali, you will be landed at Kigali International Airport. A representative from Kenya Tanzania Safaris tour operators will be waiting for you to guide your for the whole amazing trip. Your first day begins with a city tour in the town of Kigali, which spreads over several hills and valleys and one of the friendliest African capitals. In Kigali you will visit the National Museum, the Genocide Memorial Center, where 250,000 people were buried here and it’s truly a very touching museum. You will have the time also to visit the local markets and craft centers.
In the afternoon, the guides from Kenya Tanzania Safaris will drive you through terraced hills to Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans), in the north-west of the country, the most famous of the three parks in Rwanda and above all the main home of the mountain gorillas to the road that leads to Ruhengeri, the 4th largest town in the country. You will follow the road as it climbs to the basement of the magical volcanoes, with a spectacular view all around. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Parc National des Volcans

Take an early morning breakfast, served at the lodge, and you will be transfered to the headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park, where you will meet the ranger guides, who they will brief you about your safety and other precautions in the region. Then, with other members of the group, you will be ready to begin the most unique gorilla trekking tour, which usually takes 2-6 hours in the jungle. Along this journey, you will also have the chance to see the spectacular view of the Virunga Mountains, which are steep. Some of the groups of gorillas are hard to be reached, but your guides know the way and will drive you straight to a specific “habituated” mountain gorilla group.
Of course there is a chance to see some of the gentle giants along the way. Once you spot them, you are allowed to spend one hour watching them, but it will be one hour of your life that you will never forget. They are very sociable animals, living in groups of three to thirty and despite their powerful size and strength, these gentle giants are rarely engaged to actual violence. After this great experience, the tour operators of Kenya Tanzania Safaris will return you to your lodge by mid-day for lunch. In the afternoon you can take some of the optional excursions in the region. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Parc National des Volcans – Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast the you will head for a game drive to Parc National des Volcans for the second day of your gorilla tracking. This day you will track a different family group of gorillas than the previous day. You can watch them once more climb, play and eat. It is estimated that about 480 gorillas live in the region and is considered the most exciting safari in Africa. In Rwanda the gorilla families are divided into two; the ones that are been approached only by scientists for different studies and research and the ones that can be approached by tourists. In the afternoon, you can relax at the hotel or you can go for a nature walk to the lakes Ruhondo and Burera, located at the base of the volcano Muhabura and close to the border with Uganda. Dinner and overnight in at lodge.

Day 4: Kigali – Fly to Nairobi

During the morning hours, you can either go for a brief tour of this amazing city or you can go for some last minute shopping. In the afternoon, the guides from Private Guided Safaris will drive you back to the airport for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi, after this amazing wildlife experience of your life.
